Terry Smitheman (Darlaston Remembers)
- The station was built in 1896 at a cost of £90. It consisted of the engine house, which first housed a manual pump, and a small room with an open fire to dry the uniforms. Darlaston Fire Brigade was absorbed into the National Fire Service in WWII and in 1942 a new Fire Station was built in Richards St. The old station housed a towed pump until the end of the war, the car was kept in the yard. After Staffordshire Fire Brigade took control it reverted to Darlaston council and performed a variety of uses by the UDC and later Walsall MBC
